I am thrilled to share an update on my upcoming and first-ever feature film, “3 Billion,” written and directed by Yolanda Torres which has now entered post-production. This captivating sci-fi thriller takes audiences on a thought-provoking adventure, weaving together themes of self-worth, mortality, and the race against time.
“3 Billion” revolves around Eva, a brilliant Genetic Engineer, whose life takes an unexpected turn when she becomes entangled in a paradoxical loop. Her mission is to locate a mutated organism that holds the potential key to human longevity, a discovery that could prove her self-worth in the scientific community. However, as she delves deeper into her quest, Eva finds herself haunted by the demons of her past, pushing her to confront unresolved traumas. At the cusp of her “moment,” where immortality appears within her grasp, she must race against time to prevent the organism’s deadly mutation. Plagued by self-doubt and a sense of impending doom, she is driven by the shared fate of her father, who tragically passed away at the same age from a similar condition. Will she find her way back before it’s too late?
“3 Billion” was made possible through the collaboration of a dedicated and skilled team. Working alongside the visionary director Yolanda Torres, known for her previous work on acclaimed projects such as “The Odd Perspective” and “Awakening: A Mermaid’s Tale,” was a true privilege. Yolanda’s unique storytelling style and ability to bring complex narratives to life made her the perfect fit for “3 Billion.”
Behind the lens, we had the exceptional talent of our Director of Photography (DOP), Juan Antonio Fernández. With an impressive portfolio, including breathtaking cinematography in films like “The Forsaken” and “The Anarchist’s Dream,” Juan Antonio’s keen eye and mastery of capturing stunning visuals elevated the film to new heights. His meticulous attention to detail and ability to create immersive worlds were integral in bringing the film’s distinct environments to fruition.
One of the greatest joys of being a part of “3 Billion” was the opportunity to meet and collaborate with an incredible ensemble of actors. From the talented and charismatic Tosca Bell and Lucia Saavedra, who brought their infectious energy to every scene, to the seasoned and wise Josh Brisa, whose wealth of experience provided invaluable insights, each actor brought something unique to the table. However, I must give a special shoutout to Rob Mcloughlin, an incredible actor and a kindred spirit, who became not just a colleague but also a dear friend during the making of “3 Billion.” Our conversations about films and movies were filled with enthusiasm and shared love for the craft. Rob’s vibrant personality and infectious sense of humor made the shooting days so much more enjoyable. Beyond that, he set a remarkable example with his professionalism and dedication to his craft, inspiring me to continually strive for excellence.
Shooting for approximately a month and a half, we were fortunate to explore the landscapes of Aguarales de Valpalmas, adding an authentic and breathtaking backdrop that perfectly complemented the film’s atmosphere.
The dedication of our design team brought the film to life, as they crafted visually stunning practical sets, including intricate submarine and spaceship interiors. Their attention to detail and creativity brought an authentic and immersive experience to the film, enhancing the story’s impact onscreen.
“3 Billion” is an ambitious film that explores themes of scientific exploration, personal demons, and the relentless pursuit of self-discovery. Working alongside an exceptional crew, including the talented director Yolanda Torres and the skilled DOP Juan Antonio Fernández, has been a truly rewarding experience. As we embark on the post-production phase, I am excited to see the story unfold and share it with audiences around the world. Stay tuned for updates on release dates and more as we bring “3 Billion” to the big screen. Watch the story trailer here.
